Fall Fun Stuff

We deciced to have "homemade" pizza night. Here is Logan's creation. Don't you agree that the smiley face is a nice touch!
Here is Ryan's creation. He put pepper-jack cheese on half of his because he knew that's what Daddy liked.

This was a fun science project. Logan was given the element Calcium and had to create it with food, present it to the class and then everyone enjoyed their creations. Logan decided to make his out of pizza with icing and skittles. I think it sounded better than it actually tasted. Not to mention by the time we got to school, the pizza was cold, but it turned out great!

This is Logan right before it's time to go trick-or-treating and he can't decide if he wants to go as Mac Daddy (from last Halloween) with gold candy wrap paper around his teeth or go as planned as Link from the Adventures of Zelda. So he has a little of both on. Is this what they call a child trying to "find themselves"?

This is Ryan right before it's time to go trick-or-treating and
he decides he doesn't like his costume!

Here is what they both ended up with for Halloween, 2008:
Link (from the adventures of Zelda) and
one of the Clone Troopers from Star Wars

Project Pink 2008

Occtober 4, 2008 - Rayne, LA
I had the honor of judging the Pretty In Pink pageant. This year's slogan for the Susan G. Komen Foundation is "Save The Tatas". Of course I had to offer my support and purchase one of their t-shirts. However, I never thought that when I wore it, I would have to explain the slogan to my 11 year old son. Here I was trying to take advantage of a teachable moment of a very serious situation and all he could do was giggle. The joys of motherhood!
These are the new ambassadors for breast cancer awareness from each age category in the Pretty In Pink Pageant.

The 3 ladies in the middle are all breast cancer survivors with the longest one being diagnosed 14 years ago!

Balloons were set free in honor of those with breast cancer.

Our prayers go out to all who face the battle of cancer.

Old News, New pics

I know this is old news, but these pictures just came in from the photographer and I wanted to share more of my week with you. Enjoy!
This is the first night at registration when we were all just meeting each other.
Here is just a part of our group the first night with Izabella, the director, in the center. Also, Mrs. SC is all the way to the right and is the new Mrs. United States.

Food always puts a smile on my face!
Heidi and Tracy, two ladies who I got to know very well. We finally get out of the hotel for a night at Planet Beach. The smiles on our faces say it all.

When was the last time you saw ladies dress like this to go shopping???

Just a couple of good-ole-baptist girls cruising the mall. Mrs. N.C. was first runner-up.

Now comes the fun part. No judges, just playing around for our swimsuit shoots. Can you tell which 3 are superimposed into the picture? I'll give you a hint, top left and right corners and center of pool.

Now, let the judging begin...

Preliminaries!

Farewell to all!

Hot off the Press

The 008 Magazine is a local magazine who asked Rusty and I to be a part of this issue. He's the guy on the cover and we're on page 51. Rusty will tell you this was way out of his comfort zone, but I think he's a natural. What do you think?

Go to 008magazine.com to view.

Aug.-Sept.

I know this was taken before August, but I forgot to put it in an earlier blog and it's not too often both boys are in the same uniform even though they were on different teams.
Ryan's first day of 4th grade and the first time he and Logan will be at different schools. I think he finally feels big without big brother there.

First day of middle school, 6th grade!
Guess mom was a little more worried about this than Logan.

I forgot the name of this game, but it's fun to enjoy when all of the cousins are around.

I'm pretty sure you can tell who won.

The Modisette Girls Left to Right:
Me (the baby of the family), my oldest sister Marr Shan, my middle sister Cidney, and our mother, Frances. It's not too often we get to see each other since Marr Shan lives in Italy so we cherish the few times we can get together and try not to giggle too much.
Aug. 16, 2008
Cajun French Music Festival Judge, Blackham Coliseum, Lafayette
The judges are pictured with the reigning Queen. This was quite an exciting event that Ihad never experienced.

I even had a gentleman try to teach me how to Cajun Dance while we were waiting to judge the dance portion of the festival. I don't think I stepped on his toes too much.
Sept. 20, 2008
Fundraiser for LOPA (Louisiana's Organ Procurement Agency) held at Macy's in Lafayette. More than $400 dollars were raised in only 3 hours! I had the pleasure of working with Bill who is a 33 month heart transplant recipient and his wonderful wife Cindy.

Upcoming events:
Oct. 4, 2008 - Pretty In Pink Judge to benefit Breast Cancer, Rayne
Jan. 31, 2009 - Joel J. Moreau Foundation Skeet Shoot Fundraiser, Houma

Summertime 2008!

Here is a small sample of pictures of my week in Las Vegas with some very amazing women!

Mrs. Conneticut, my roommate.

Our first dinner together.

These were our 5 "blonde bob" contestants.

After dinner the first night, we were able to get to know each other a little better.

Finally, a night out of the hotel! They took us to Planet Hollywood to do a little shopping. Mrs. North Carolina was first runner up.

This is Mrs. Isabella who is the national director for the Mrs. United States. She is an amazing woman and even she admitted that even her feet were hurting.

Eventually we ended up with a pretty large crowd of us in Planet Hollywood just enjoying each other's company and again giving our feet a rest!

This was taken during one of our rehearsals "take 5" breaks which we so thoroughly enjoyed.

This is Mrs. Kentucky and Mrs. Maine, my before and after. (alphabetically of course)

These were our 2 celebrity contestants. Can you guess who they look like? Mrs. Kansas looks alot like Kirsten Dunst (aka Mary Jane Watts in Spiderman) and Mrs. West Virginia was the spitting image of Reba Macintire. They look even more like them in person!

These girls were from Lockport, LA which is where several of my friends are from. Imagine that, coming all the way to Vegas to run into people from Lockport!

This guy was from Oakdale, LA. If I had to guess, I'm pretty sure he has played Santa Clause a few times in his life.

Before interview.

This is Nicky Lingo, my state director. Her biggest job was calming me down before interviews. Boy, was I glad she was there!

Getting ready for opening number.

Right before finals! The nerves are really kicking in by this time.

Nicky and I backstage before finals. This whole experience would not have been possible without her and it was great having her there every step of the way!

It meant so much for me to have my favorite men in Las Vegas cheering me on throughout the pageant!

While Mom is having 7 hours of rehearsals a day inside, here are a few shots of what the Bex boys were able to enjoy:

Hoover Dam. This was pretty cool for the boys to see where they filmed part of the Transformer Movie!

Incredibly views!

Glad I wasn't there for this picture. That's a little too far out for mom's comfort zone.

What an awesome view!

Alright, it's San Destin time again!

Come on Mom, not another picture just let me get in the water already.

This year the water was filled with seaweed as you can tell by the green stuff on Logan's face and chest.

For those of you who have read our other posts, may have noticed that the boat has changed once again. Boat #2 had a hole in it so we had to find another one since you know we can't enjoy Destin without it. However, having bigger waves would have been nice. These little waves were somewhat dissapointing.

This was a new "ride" at the Village in San Destin. It took you over a man-made lake and back so I decided to be brave and go first. It was really fun!

Looks like Ryan is hanging on for dear life! He forgot to take his crocs off so I was just waiting for them to fall in the water. Well, at least they would have floated.

Here's Logan

It's finally dad's turn across the lake.

I only wish I had a body like this!

Oh no! A smiling head!!!!

Logan attended his first band camp at ABC camp in Eunice. Whoo! Who! Two nights away from home. I also attended ABC camp with my church when I was a little girl about his age so it was pretty cool to bring him. Unbelievably though, not much had changed.

Getting to camp early enough to call top bunk is always way cool!

Logan is 5th from the left. On the last afternoon, they played a concert for the parents outside in a parking lot. Boy, was it hot!

These next few photos are taken in Mississippi along the Natchez Trace and surrounding area:

Oh no! A train's coming. Whatever shall we do?

Ahh! I'm being eaten alive by a tree!

Can't remember the name of this lake, but it was beautiful!

Since 27 is the favorite number of the Bex men, we had to take a picture by the 27th confederate line.

Stop! Or I'll shoot!

Ride 'em cowboy!
