Couple of Events

January 31, 2009
Joel J. Moreau Skeet Shoot/Auction
Houma, LA
This is the Moreau family whose husband/father/grand-father passed away from cancer last year. They held the first annual Joel J. Moreau Skeet Shoot and asked me to be a part of this special event. The turnout was phenomenal. I've never seen so many pick-up trucks and 4 wheelers in one place! I was able to help with the auction part of the day which raised a ton of money to benefit the American Cancer Society. I was especially proud to help since my mother-in-law recently passed away from cancer as well.

Challenge Day at H.L.Bourgeious High School
Gray, LA

Although I don't have any pictures I'd like to share a little information with you about Challenge Day. I was so excited to be able to visit my high school alma mater and to volunteer for this special day which hopefully had a positive impact on the 100 - 130 students who attended. Challenge Day is a program that helps teens with experiences that they go through every day. It dealt with everything from drugs and alcohol to suicide, peer pressure, and anything else you can imagine. It was quite an emotional day for all of us. The program has been highlighted on Oprah and you can get more information at http://www.challengeday.org/.

Fun Stuff

If any of you enjoy comedians, listen to Brian Regan. He is funny and clean enough for the whole family. He's great to listen to in the car on long trips too. Rusty and I saw him in Baton Rouge last year and wanted to bring the boys, but the closest place he was touring was Beaumont, Tx. So we decided to take a little road trip.
Ever wonder what else there is to do in Beaumont, Texas? Well, try out this alligator farm. Even though it was too cold to really see any of the big alligators, they brought out this little guy for us to hold.
Everyone had a turn to hold a real live alligator. (All be it small it still had teeth!)

We couldn't let the kids have all of the fun.

Yes, even I got into the fun. What you don't know is that this little guy was born with his jaw out of place so he physically can't close it. Therefore, no biting possible!!!

Logan is showing his magician side in this picture. This was called the "Floating card" trick. I have several nights of taping his magic shows if any of you would like to view them. For a small fee of course. Just kidding!

Logan decided to play basketball this year. He is #22 at the free throw line. I wonder if that ball went in?

Nothing but net!

It's Social Studies Fair time again. Unfortunately Ryan's classmates, Shalon and Jarius, had already left when I remembered to take this picture. They won 1st place at their school and now have to compete in the parish fair at the end of Feb.

Thankfully we still enjoy a quick trip to the Acadiana zoo every now and then. I think Logan was trying to impress some cute girls that were walking by.

Awe... What a sad lion!

Merry Christmas to All!!!

It's finally Christmas! I wonder if I'm the only mom who makes their kids sit still to take a picture before opening presents?
OK, this one I'll have to explain. This is our comedic son who decided he wanted to be a greenneck instead of a redneck so he colored his neck with a green marker. And as Ryan would say, "You get it? Green Neck? Red Neck?" Just to make sure we understood.

Ryan really got into boxing on the Wii.

Logan playing tennis on the Wii.

Here is Rusty trying his hand at Guitar Hero. Yes, I tried it as well, but I'm not sharing pictures of that. Not to mention, everytime I played a song on easy, I got booed off the stage!

Christmas with Rusty's Family

The 3 stooges are still best buddies.
For anyone who doesn't know what teenage girls like, just give money. It's the fool proof present and always brings on a beautiful smile!!!
It's amazing to believe Leah is already a Freshman in high school.

Seems like yesterday that Nita was a young flower girl in our wedding and now she is almost finished her Junior year in high school! What beautiful young ladies Nita and Leah are growing up to be!!!

In case you can't read the shirt, it says, "My two favorite teams... Ragin Cajuns and whoever beats LSU!" By the time Christms was over, Trey, Logan, Ryan, Rusty, and Donnie all had shirts like this.

Christmas with Darcee's Family

Me, Mama and Cidney waiting to open presents! Just wish Marr Shan could have been with us too. Seeing her and her family once a year is the pits.
Finally we began opening presents. Here are the first presents of the Christmas season for Logan and Ryan. What little boys wouldn't love nerf rifles? I think these were the hit of the evening. Thanks Blake!!!

Here is my great niece, Sammy, who is so patiently waiting to open presents.
This is my sister, Cidney and her grandson Brayden (my great nephew). He is the miracle in our family since he was born at 24 weeks and weighed less than 2 lbs! He is now 3 years old and precious as can be!!!

Thanks to Mammaw and Pappaw we finally got a Wii!

This is the Colts Superbowl hat signed by Peyton Manning!

Here is the actual Superbowl program book signed by Peyton Manning!

It's nice to have relatives who know people. Thanks Uncle Timmy!!!

National Foster and Adoption Month

Novemeber is National Foster and Adoption Month
I was asked to be a guest speaker for a program honoring families who have fostered or adopted children in the past year in Thibodaux, LA. There was an article published in the Houma Courier highlighting the event and what a wonderful job the Office of Child Services did!
My sister (Cidney) and I bonding before the program.

Meet Alaina. She was adopted when she was an infant and now has a wonderful home with many brothers and sisters. How precious she was. We quickly became pals! Doesn't she look like a natural with my crown on her head.
